Ryan Giggs hosted a Sportsman’s Dinner with friends from sports and entertainment meeting at Old Trafford Stadium to raise further funds for the Five Star Scanner Appeal of which Ryan is an ambassador.
The Wallness Children’s Charity started fundraising 30 years ago for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Following a re-launch as the Five Stars Scanner Appeal, they work in partnership with The New Children’s Hospital Appeal, raising funds to help ensure the new hospital is the very best it can be. The Five Stars Scanner Appeal, through its pledge to raise £1 million for a new MRI scanner, will make a major contribution to the quality of treatment for young patients.
The New Children’s Hospital Appeal will help to provide the best equipment for diagnosis and treatment and accommodation so that parents can stay close to their child during treatment. Present on the top table were both Sir Alex Ferguson and Mr Brian Kidd. This was the first time the two had met socially since Brian left Manchester United to become Manager at Blackburn Rovers; a position which is currently held by another former Red, Mark Hughes.
During the course of the evening an auction was held of sporting memorabilia. Bellagio Time were pleased to donate a Bellagio Special Edition 3.5 carat Diamond Gent’s Timepiece, which raised a magnificent £8,500. In total, the Charity benefited from the evening £27,000.
