At Palace Theatre – Following the tremendous Night of Stars I in May 2005, Sue Jenkins proved that it is possible to improve on success as she staged Night of Stars II.
Sue’s friends from stage; screen and television all rallied to
the call and came together to perform songs from the shows, and help
backstage. The Palace Theatre was packed to the rafters and the audience
was thoroughly entertained, singing along with old favourites and seeing
familiar faces in unfamiliar roles.
Special mention has to go to David Fleeshman’s rendition of “If I was a Rich Man” from Fiddler on the Roof. His unbounded enthusiasm for the song burst forth from every note.
The proceeds from the evening were to be divided between five charities.
Four North-West charities, with the balance supporting the work of the
Thai orphanage established by The Louise Willgrass Trust (the beneficiary
of last year’s extravaganza) in the wake of the 2004 Tsunami.
The four North-West based children’s charities benefiting from the evening are Destination Florida; Five Star Scanner Appeal; Variety Club of Great Britain; and Wish Upon a Star.
Bellagio Time were pleased to donate a Bellagio 2.10ct diamond ladies
timepiece, and a signed Beckham England football shirt to the raffle
which was drawn on the evening.
