TRIBUTE EVENING TO MURRAY WALKER OBE
(in aid of Variety Club)
27th November, 2006

To honour his contribution to sports and entertainment, Variety Club NW hosted a tribute evening for Murray Walker OBE - the legendary voice of formula one.

To pay their own personal tributes were guest speakers from motor racing (both drivers and commentators) Nigel Mansell; John Surtees; Martin Brundle; Derek Warwick; Brian Barwick; Steve Rider and Jim Rosenthal.

Such is the high esteem in which Murray is held that the VC Chief Barker, and many senior members of the VC crew, came to Manchester especially to be with Murray on the evening. Also present were many guests from the formula one industry as a whole, including the individual racing teams and the formula one media.

The Managing Director of Bellagio Time, was very proud to be able to personally present Murray and his wife with timepieces from The House of Bellagio, and he found Murray to be “a gentleman”. The hand-written thank you letter received in the post after the event, simply confirming the point.

In addition to a lady’s timepiece for the raffle, Bellagio Time were pleased to donate a 2.1ct lady’s diamond timepiece for the auction, which raised £1,250 for the Charity.
